Do your seniors look like this?
đ„ Unpopular Opinion: Your Senior Dancers Arenât Burnt Out⊠Theyâre Bored.
If your senior dancers seem disengaged, drained, or âover itâ this season⊠it might not be burnout.
It might be boredom.
Letâs be real: after 12+ years of classes, competitions, and the same yearly cycle, dancers crave evolution. They want something that stretches their IDENTITY, not just their feet!
Yes, their bodies are tired, especially now at end of the season. And their brains arenât braining. But whatâs even more exhausted is their sense of purpose.
What used to light them upâsolos, sequins, and scholarships, might not be enough anymore. Thatâs where YOU come in.
3 Real-World Ways to Reignite Your Senior Dancersâ Fire:
â 1. Give Them Leadership Opportunities.
Let them assist with younger classes, choreograph a short combo, create a studio Instagram reel, or even start a podcast. When they feel needed, they feel renewed.
â 2. Challenge Their Minds, Not Just Their Bodies.
Teach concepts like emotional intention, energy awareness in the room, and musicality. Trust them with big dancer stuff. (They can handle it!)
â 3. Have REAL Conversations.
Ask them what they actually WANT from dance right now. I have so many chats with seniors year after year, and youâll be surprised how many are just waiting for someone to ask.
Hereâs the reality:
Youâre not just teaching routines. Youâre literally mentoring the next generation. And sometimes, reigniting a dancersâ passion just takes the right spark⊠from YOU!
